k2’s k9s and kitties

K is for k2’s k9s and kitties

Blogging parent of six furry kids, and the beloved pets who came before them.

Today I’m interviewing Kathy, otherwise known as k2, of k2’s k9’s and kitties. I actually met k2 because she joined the blog hop for the pet bloggers of the A-Z Challenge. She graciously answered the interview questions.IMG_1833

She’s got a whole crew of dogs and cats that are super adorable. She shared a few pictures with me to share with you! You can go to her blog and read about the past and present pets. She’s included fun stories about skunks and arrested dogs. 🙂

IMG_0140What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done with your pet/human?

There I was, as usual, trying to be friendly.  In an attempt to get to know a neighbor and her dog, I made the mistake of going into her yard with my dog.  I should have known to stop when she hollered “Is he friendly?!”  She had just returned from a walk, so her dog was still on-leash.  Both dogs’ leashes got tangled and somehow pulled the dogs’ heads together.  The dogs got into a huge fight (which I ended up resolving by putting my hands in there and untangling the leashes)! The woman’s husband came running out of the house, hollering, and they threatened to have me arrested! The woman asked me my address so she could send the police to my house!  As if I was guilty of something (??) I actually told her where I live (we are neighbors, I’m surprised she didn’t ALREADY know — I mean, hello, the house with the two big dogs!?)… the police never came.  She was bluffing.  So much for trying to make new friends!

Besides blogging, what are your hobbies?

Reading and photography.

How long have you been blogging?

Since Christmas of 2006.

How long have you been doing any of your other hobbies?

Reading since I was 4, lol.  Photography for about five years.

If you were to write the story of your life, what would you title it?

That’s easy, because I’m (sort of) writing it:  “Everything Is A Song”.

If you could have one wish (and it actually came true) what would it be?

End the practice of kill shelters.  A “shelter” should be a shelter!

What is your favorite place in the whole world (this can be a fantasy place you may love only from photos or descriptions)?

Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  I’ve been all over Europe, the Caribbean, and a good bit of the U.S.; and “the Cape” is my absolutely favorite place on Earth.

What is you favorite place close to home (this is somewhere you have been and could conceivably go to right now)?

Same answer as above!

What is a perfect Sunday morning like for you?

Sleeping late with my dogs on the bed, drinking lots of good coffee, and having eggs for breakfast.

What is your favorite thing to eat?

Cheese and potato chips.

What’s your theme song?

Dancin’ in the Moonlight

If you could sit down to dinner with any living celebrity or public figure, who would it be?

Tori Amos.

If you could sit down to dinner with any no longer living celebrity or public figure, who would it be?

Jimmy Stewart.

What is your favorite beverage?

Coffee!

If you had to choose between only books or only TV which would you chose or want your human to choose?

Books!

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Total night owl.

What is your best trick? (Humans can answer this one too!)

Play me a song from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s or 1980s, and there’s a 99.9% chance I can tell you the name of the artist.

Do you have or have you had any nicknames?

Well, k2, obviously!  Also Mule.

What is the first thing you notice when you meet someone new?

Another easy one!  The quality of their handshake (or lack thereof).

What is your least favorite mode of transportation?

Airplane.  Which is pretty funny because I work in the travel industry!

A to Z Pet Blogger Prep: Ideas & Support

It’s the beginning of March already! This is hard to believe! I haven’t been around too much lately. Our house hunt continues (unsuccessful so far), we’re half attempting to find a new car and I’m trying to organize details for two trips this summer. But fear not, I’ll be here plenty in March and April!

As today’s post title suggest I’m writing about the A-Z Challenge starting in April. Even though I’m still a versatile blogger I’m entering the challenge as a pet blogger. Bethany of Cascadian Nomads and I have been collaborating for the last month and have come up with questions, topic ideas and general advice for the challenge. We’re going to spend the next few weeks encouraging people to join and answering any questions. You don’t have to be a pet blogger to join in the A-Z challenge but our blog hop is specifically for those that are. We’re hopeful that we can get enough pet bloggers together that the creators put a pet category on their sign up list for next year!

The A-Z is really fun but it can be really difficult. I’ve had lots of people say the idea of posting every day (except Sunday!) is too much. If you plan ahead it can be really simple. Posting a picture or video that relates to the days letter counts as a post. It doesn’t have to be a long novel of a post. Bethany has put together the questions and topics in her post today.  I’m listing the questions below but be sure to check out the Nomads and their topic ideas!

  1. What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done with your pet/human?
  2. Besides blogging, what are your hobbies?
  3. How long have you been blogging?
  4. How long have you been doing any of your other hobbies?
  5. If you were to write the story of your life, what would you title it?
  6. If you could have one wish (and it actually came true) what would it be?
  7. What is your favorite place in the whole world (this can be a fantasy place you may love only from photos or descriptions)?
  8. What is you favorite place close to home (this is somewhere you have been and could conceivably go to right now)?
  9. What is a perfect Sunday morning like for you?
  10. What is your favorite thing to eat?
  11. What’s your theme song?
  12. If you could sit down to dinner with any living celebrity or public figure, who would it be?
  13. If you could sit down to dinner with any no longer living celebrity or public figure, who would it be?
  14. What is your favorite beverage?
  15. If you had to choose between only books or only TV which would you chose or want your human to choose?
  16. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
  17. What is your best trick? (Humans can answer this one too!)
  18. Do you have or have you had any nicknames?
  19. What is the first thing you notice when you meet someone new?
  20. What is your least favorite mode of transportation?

I don’t have my list of topics quite together yet…it’s still haphazardly written together so I’ll be posting about ideas in the next weeks along with lots of encouragement.  I hope you all decide to join. The challenge is a lot of fun and you’ll meet some really interesting bloggers. If you don’t want to participate you can still support everyone else by posting the support badge on your blog.

By posting this you promise to visit blogs to encourage those of us that have gone crazy and decided to do this daily posting. 🙂

If you’re interested in joining us for our March month of prep be sure to join in the blog hop below! And be sure to sign up for the A-Z Challenge too! There’s already 940+ people signed up!
